Technology advances in logistics showcased in HCM City

VOV.VN - Up to 100 exhibitors from 15 countries and territories are boasting about their leading-edge technological advances and products in logistics during the ongoing first Vietnam International Port, Infrastructure and Logistics Exhibition & Conference (VIPILEC 2019) held in Ho Chi Minh City.

Companies in third-party logistics (3PLs), freight forwarding, air transport, cold storage transport, stevedoring equipment, cold chain storage, container production, data analysis, waterway equipment supply and operation, equipment and logistics property supply, port equipment and technology, intelligent intra-logistics, and logistics and warehouses, are displaying their latest products and services.

The local logistics sector, which reportedly has more than 4,000 local and foreign companies primarily headquartered in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, contributes some 5 per cent to the country’s GDP.

Dao Trong Khoa, Vice President of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), said logistics is a high valued-added services sector and has greatly contributed to the economy.

Vietnam’s foreign trade has seen booming development in the past few years, notably hitting the total value of US$482 billion in 2018, Khoa said. He noted that the figure is expected to jump by 8-10 per cent this year and logistics activities, naturally associated with import-export and cargo shipments, will also enjoy strong growth in the year.

Slated to run until June 14, the three-day event acts as a good chance for Vietnamese logistics firms to introduce their services, seek businesses partners to expand their markets and promote Vietnamese logistics to the region and the world.

Several seminars and conferences will be held on the sidelines of VIPILEC 2019, focusing on e-logistics, last mile delivery, and smart logistics.
