Taiwanese high-tech firm selects Vietnam as Southeast Asia manufacturing hub
VOV.VN - UNIVACCO Technology Inc., a Tainan-based technology manufacturer, has chosen Vietnam as its strategic production base in Southeast Asia after leasing nearly 30,000 square meters of industrial land at Long Thanh Industrial Park in Vietnam’s southern Dong Nai province.
Founded in 1990, UNIVACCO specialises in vacuum metallised films and advanced surface coating technologies serving the printing, packaging, and high-performance materials industries. Its core products, including hot stamping foil, cold foil, and functional vacuum films, are distributed across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
The land lease in Dong Nai reflects a broader trend of selective relocation among high-tech manufacturers, with Vietnam increasingly favoured for its political stability, competitive production costs, and strong integration into global supply chains.
UNIVACCO’s Vietnam project will be developed in line with international manufacturing standards, incorporating advanced technologies, optimised logistics systems, and enhanced production capacity to serve growing demand in high-end packaging, digital applications, and environmentally friendly materials.
According to Bruce Lee, CEO of UNIVACCO Technology Inc., the company selected Vietnam as its overseas production base to capitalise on international tariff advantages and the country’s cost competitiveness.
Data from Savills Vietnam shows that by 2025, Dong Nai had attracted more than US$2.7 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), exceeding its annual target by 144%. The province currently hosts over 2,200 active FDI projects with total registered capital surpassing US$42 billion.
From 2026 onward, Dong Nai is expected to welcome a new wave of investment in high-tech manufacturing, logistics, and financial services, supported by major infrastructure developments such as Long Thanh International Airport and Phuoc An Port, alongside ongoing administrative reforms and digital transformation initiatives.
Phan Cuu Chi, Industrial Real Estate Services Manager at Savills Ho Chi Minh City, noted that high-tech FDI in Vietnam is shifting from short-term opportunistic moves to long-term strategic commitments. Investors like UNIVACCO, she said, are not merely seeking production sites but are positioning Vietnam as an integrated platform for manufacturing and innovation.
The developer of Long Thanh Industrial Park, Sonadezi Long Thanh, highlighted that the 488-hectare park offers fully integrated technical infrastructure, internal transportation networks, and complete electricity, water, and wastewater treatment systems tailored to high-tech manufacturing requirements.
“This project underscores our strategy of attracting high-quality, technology-driven manufacturers and generating sustainable value for the industrial ecosystem,” a representative of Sonadezi Long Thanh stated.
