Shrimp exports to China jump 58%, shipments to US and RoK decline
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s shrimp exports to China rose sharply in the first two months of 2026, while shipments to the United States and the Republic of Korea (RoK) dropped, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported on March 18.
According to the VASEP, total shrimp export turnover reached about US$690 million in January-February, up 20% year on year. China and Hong Kong remained the largest market, with exports up 58% and accounting for about 45% of the total. During the same period, exports to the EU also increased.
By product, whiteleg shrimp held the largest share. Lobster exports recorded strong growth, while black tiger shrimp exports also increased.
In March, VASEP expects exports to improve, though strong growth may be limited. The US market continues to face pressure from anti-dumping duties, additional import tariffs and tighter technical requirements.
The ability to sustain growth will depend on demand in China, stable market share in the EU, and expansion of higher-value products such as lobster.
