PM directs proactive measures to boost farm produce consumption
VOV.VN - The Prime Minister has requested that relevant ministries, sectors, and localities promptly implement measures to ensure the production, processing, consumption, and export of agricultural products, especially during peak harvest seasons for key items such as rice, durian, lychee, longan, dragon fruit, mango.

Under a directive dated May 31, the PM instructed leaders of provinces and cities, particularly northern border provinces like Lang Son, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Dien Bien, and Lai Chau, to actively coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Finance to manage transportation flows and ensure smooth circulation of goods at border checkpoints, avoiding congestion of agricultural exports.
Local authorities must also provide timely and accurate updates on export conditions at border gates to help farmers and businesses adjust their production, logistics, and export strategies accordingly.
The Prime Minister called on enterprises to increase their purchase and storage of agricultural products, especially during peak harvest times, to support farmers in selling their produce. The Ministry of Finance was tasked with prioritising the expedited customs clearance of fresh agricultural exports, particularly perishable items like lychee and durian, to prevent delays at border crossings.
The Minister of Agriculture and Environment was assigned to guide localities through reviewing and preparing year-end production plans, ensuring balanced supply and demand, and maintaining national food security.
The directive also emphasises the prevention of animal and plant diseases and the importance of developing resilient agricultural systems.
Efforts should be made to strengthen linkages among farming areas, promote storage and deep processing, and enhance coordination among cooperatives, producers, exporters, distributors, and retailers to boost market access, says the directive.
The document further calls for greater application of science, innovation, and digital transformation in agriculture, especially for high-value products like fruits, and the use of advanced technologies in preservation and processing.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade was tasked with diversifying export markets and organising domestic programmes such as agricultural weeks and Vietnamese goods fairs to boost local consumption demand and enhance product visibility both online and offline.
