Petrol prices rise after several declines, near VND19,000 per litre
VOV.VN - Domestic petrol prices in Vietnam rose at the latest adjustment at 3:00 p.m. on January 29, reversing several previous declines and edging close to VND19,000 per litre, according to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Accordingly, RON95-III is now priced at VND18,840 per litre, up VND210, while E5 RON92 also rose by VND50 to VND18,330 per litre. Biofuel E10 also inched up VND190 to VND18,710 per litre.
The price of 0.05S diesel fuel edged up VND470 to VND18,170 per litre. Kerosene is now capped at VND17,170 per liter, up VND220. Meanwhile, mazut 180CST 3.5S is traded at VND14,630 per kilogramme, marking an increase of VND760 compared with the price adjustment a week ago.
The latest increase marks the first rise in domestic petrol prices after several consecutive cuts. At the previous adjustment on January 22, petrol prices edged lower, moving against higher oil prices, with RON95-III falling by VND81 to VND18,631 per litre, and E5 RON92 dropping by VND93 to VND18,283 per litre.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, global petroleum prices during the latest adjustment period, from January 22 to January 28, 2026, were affected by multiple factors, including tensions between the United States and Iran, severe cold weather in the US, a sharper-than-expected decline in US oil inventories, depreciation of the US dollar, prospects for negotiations to resolve the Russia–Ukraine conflict, and ongoing military developments related to the conflict. These factors caused global oil prices to fluctuate in recent days, with mixed movements across different products.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said the latest price adjustment is intended to align domestic fuel prices with global market trends, maintain a reasonable price gap between E5 RON92 and RON95 to encourage biofuel consumption in line with government policy, and ensure a balanced distribution of interests among stakeholders.
