Petrol prices fall below VND19,000/l for fourth consecutive week
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have announced a downward adjustment of petrol and oil prices, bringing petrol below VND19,000 per litre starting 3 p.m. on December 31.
RON95-III is now capped at VND18,910 per litre, down VND90 from last week, while E5 RON 92 dropped by VND280 to a maximum of VND18,430 per litre.
The latest adjustment saw the retail price of diesel have no change in comparison to the transaction a week ago. Kerosene was lowered by VND10 to VND17,690 per litre. Mazut 180CST 3.5S was listed at VND13,340, down VND40 per kilogramme.
This marks the fourth consecutive decrease in petrol prices in the past four weeks.
In this pricing cycle, the regulatory agencies did not allocate or use the Petrol Price Stabilisation Fund for E5 RON92 petrol, RON95 petrol, diesel, kerosene, or mazut.
The agencies emphasised that this pricing approach aims to ensure domestic fuel prices fluctuate in line with global oil prices. It also seeks to maintain a reasonable price gap between E5 RON92 biofuel and RON95 petrol to encourage the use of biofuels in line with the Government’s policy, while balancing the interests of all market participants.
Since 2025, RON95-III has seen 26 increases and 28 decreases, while E5RON92 has recorded 25 increases and 29 decreases in prices. Diesel has been adjusted 24 times upward and 28 times downward.
It also marks the final petrol and oil price adjustment of 2025, and it is implemented one day earlier than usual due to coinciding with the 2026 New Year's holiday.
