Domestic petrol prices rise after five consecutive cuts
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s retail petrol prices rose on January 15 after five consecutive downward adjustments, according to the latest price decision by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.
Effective from 3:00 p.m. RON95-III, the most commonly used petrol in Vietnam, edged up by VND152 to VND18,712 per litre. E5 RON 92 biofuel was also revised up by VND143 to a maximum of VND18,376 per litre.
Elsewhere, the prices of diesel 0.05S and kerosene were capped at VND17,287 per litre and VND17,697 per litre, rising by VND226 and VND138 per litre, respectively.
In contrast, Mazut 180CST 3.5S was sold at no more than VND13,401 per kilogramme, down VND2 per kilogramme.
The inter-ministerial regulatory agency said it did not use or contribute to the fuel price stabilisation fund for any products during this adjustment.
Since the beginning of 2026, domestic petrol prices have undergone two adjustments, including one decrease and one increase. In 2025, domestic petrol prices saw 50 adjustments, including 24 decreases, and 20 increases.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, global oil prices during the current pricing period were influenced by several factors, including instability in Iran, rising tensions between the United States and Iran, higher US crude oil and gasoline inventories, Venezuela’s resumption of crude oil exports, and ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, particularly targeting energy infrastructure. These developments caused mixed movements in global fuel prices across different products.
