Over 4,100 Ford Explorer SUVs recalled in Vietnam for exterior trim replacement

VOV.VN - Ford Motor Co. will recall 4,142 Ford Explorer SUVs in Vietnam to have their exterior A-pillar trims inspected and replaced for free, according to the Vietnam Register.

According to the manufacturer, the affected vehicles were manufactured in the United States between May 17, 2010, and March 3, 2019. On some of these vehicles, the exterior A-pillar trim may not be properly fitted, which could cause the trim to become loose or detach while the vehicle is in operation, posing a danger to other road users.

This issue may occur due to errors in the assembly process or during repairs related to the windshield.

The recall programme will run until January 15, 2030, giving vehicle owners enough time to bring their cars in for inspection and repair. The inspection and replacement process is expected to take approximately 1.5 hours per vehicle and is completely free of charge.

Vehicles imported to Vietnam that were not through Ford Vietnam can also receive assistance if needed.

Industry experts believe this recall demonstrates Ford’s commitment to customer safety. Although this issue does not directly affect the vehicle’s operation, if the trim were to fall off while the vehicle is in motion, it could be hazardous to others. This recall helps reassure customers and enhances the manufacturer’s brand reputation.
