Beverage sector to explore new technologies at drinktec 2025

VOV.VN - Vietnamese beverage businesses are gearing up for drinktec 2025, a key event to explore new technologies and global trends in the industry.

On February 18, YONTEX International Exhibition Group, in collaboration with the Vietnam Beer, Alcohol, and Beverage Association (VBA), held a press conference on drinktec 2025, the world’s leading exhibition for the liquid food and beverage industry.

At the event,  Markus Kosak, CEO of YONTEX's drinktec exhibition series, shared that drinktec is a major global event held every three years. The 2025 edition is set to take place from September 15 to 19 at the Munich Exhibition Center in Germany.

The exhibition will showcase the latest technologies in processing, filling, packaging, and marketing products, with participation from large corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition to prominent industry names, drinktec 2025 will feature a section for startups and present the latest trends in beer, water, and juice products.

International participation remains a core strength of drinktec 2025, with exhibitors from around 60 countries. By introducing cutting-edge solutions for the global beverage and liquid food industries, visitors will gain a comprehensive view of raw materials, processing ingredients, packaging, and production technologies that meet evolving product development needs, Kosak said.

The organizers also emphasized that this year’s event will not only feature exhibition booths but also inspire innovative ideas for the future of the beverage industry. There will be enhanced interaction between researchers, visitors, and exhibitors, with discussions on the future of the beverage and liquid food sectors through interactive areas, technology demonstrations, presentations, and high-level dialogues. The networking area will offer opportunities for collaboration between visitors and exhibitors, facilitating potential partnerships.

Drinktec 2025 has captured the major attention of from businesses due to its showcase of advanced technologies and their benefits for the beverage industry. The entire production value chain will be presented in real-world applications, allowing visitors to explore technical details of complete filling and packaging systems, from basic technologies to high-tech solutions, Kosak added.

At the press conference, Richard Clemens, CEO of the German Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association (VDMA), predicted that alcohol consumption in Vietnam would increase by nearly 50%, from 4.3 billion liters to 6.5 billion liters by 2028, the highest growth rate among the top 10 largest markets in Asia.

Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia. The country’s beverage industry has made great strides in recent years, with businesses continuing to invest in machinery and technology. Moreover, exchanging ideas and expanding future-focused topics will be crucial for businesses moving forward, Clemens stated.

Nguyen Van Viet, President of VBA, also highlighted the huge potential of Vietnam's beverage industry, emphasizing its significance in daily life. The sector creates millions of jobs annually and contributes over 60 trillion VND to the national budget. With a growing market of more than 100 million people, the industry holds significant growth opportunities in the time ahead.

Although the industry grew in line with the GDP growth rate in previous years, it has recently slowed due to some policy limitations. For example, in 2024, the sector saw only modest growth of 4% compared to 2023, posing new challenges.

Attending drinktec 2025 offers domestic beverage businesses an opportunity to explore global beverage consumption trends, discover new technologies, and establish professional networks for broader cooperation in production and distribution both domestically and internationally.

“Vietnamese beverage businesses are increasingly modernizing their production lines to produce high-quality products, better meet consumer needs, and stay competitive with regional and global products. This is the main benefit for businesses participating in drinktec 2025,” Viet stressed.
