LEGO opens regional distribution centre in Dong Nai

VOV.VN - LEGO, the Danish construction toy production company, and Kuehne+Nagel, a global transport and logistics company in Switzerland, inaugurated a Regional Distribution Centre in Vietnam’s Dong Nai province, marking an expansion of their strategic partnership to serve the Asia–Pacific market.

This is LEGO’s fifth regional distribution centre worldwide and its second in Asia, following the Shanghai facility in China. The new facility will act as the logistics nerve centre for the LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam factory in Ho Chi Minh City – the first in Southeast Asia, which began operations in early 2025.

Spanning 10,200 m² with storage capacity for 33,000 pallets, the centre is expected to expand to 16,360 m² and handle up to 150 containers per week by 2026, when it reaches full operation. From Dong Nai, LEGO products will be distributed to Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan, with expansion planned to India, Indonesia, and other markets from 2026.

“Our new regional distribution centre in Dong Nai will play a critical role in supporting long-term growth in the region by creating a shorter and more agile supply chain,” said P.  Venkatram, Vice President, APAC-China Supply Chain Operations at LEGO. “We’re grateful for our continued partnership with Kuehne+Nagel, whose strong logistics expertise helps us to bring learning through play to millions of children across the region.”

Under the agreement, Kuehne+Nagel manages the entire logistics operation, including transport from LEGO factories in Vietnam and China, customs clearance, bonded warehousing, ocean freight, and distribution to local hubs across Asia–Pacific.

“Our partnership with the LEGO Group reflects a shared commitment to operational excellence and long-term sustainability,” said Bjoern Traemann, Managing Director of Kuehne+Nagel Vietnam. “Beyond managing fulfilment operations, we actively support their broader sustainability goals. This includes the use of Sustainable Marine Fuel for all global full container load shipments and the deployment of electric vehicles for last-mile deliveries. We are proud to be part of a supply chain that is built for the future.”

The Dong Nai RDC has achieved LEED Gold certification, equipped with solar panels and smart energy metres to optimise energy consumption and reduce emissions. This reflects both LEGO’s and Kuehne+Nagel’s commitment to sustainable operations.

Once fully operational in 2026, the centre will become a vital link in LEGO’s global supply chain network, strengthening production and distribution capacity in the Asia–Pacific region.

LEGO now operates five RDCs worldwide - in Belgium, Shanghai (China), the United States, Mexico, and Dong Nai (Vietnam). The new facility is expected to serve as a bridge between Southeast Asian production and rising consumer demand across Asia–Pacific, reinforcing Vietnam’s role on the global supply chain map while boosting the development of the country’s domestic logistics sector.
