LEGO inaugurates US$1.3 billion manufacturing factory in Vietnam
VOV.VN - LEGO, the Danish construction toy production company, officially inaugurated its manufacturing factory at the Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP III) in southern Binh Duong province, with a total investment of US$1.3 billion.

This is LEGO's sixth factory globally and its second manufacturing facility in Asia. It is also the most environmentally friendly factory the Danish company has built to date.
LEGO broke ground on a US$1.3 billion factory, the largest investment project ever undertaken by a Danish company in Vietnam, on November 3, 2022. The project is expected to create 4,000 jobs upon completion.
The factory was built on a 44-hectare site, with five buildings covering a total construction area of 150,000 square meters. The facilities include office spaces, an energy centre, injection molding and packaging areas, an automated warehouse, and other infrastructure.
Once fully operational in 2026, the factory will run entirely on renewable energy sourced from solar panels installed on-site.
Speaking at the ceremony, Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of LEGO, stated that the Vietnam project is the company’s strategic step to expand production capacity in the Asia-Pacific region and demonstrates its long-term commitment to sustainable development.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasised that LEGO's project is a model for the new generation of foreign direct investment (FDI), focusing on high-tech, green, clean, and environmentally friendly technologies.
The presence of LEGO also highlights Binh Duong’s continued appeal as a destination for major global manufacturing groups, thanks to its strategic location, infrastructure, and favourable investment environment, he noted.
In addition to its manufacturing goals, the company has also made significant investments in local workforce development. More than 100 international experts have come to Vietnam to train technical and managerial staff. The company has also partnered with educational organisations to implement a programme that will bring the joy of Lego to more than 60,000 Vietnamese children by the end of 2025.
By the end of this year, LEGO plans to launch a distribution centre in Dong Nai, which will be the company’s second logistics hub in Asia.
