Hoa Phat exports construction steel to Mexico for first time
VOV.VN - Hoa Phat Group, the nation’s largest steel maker, announced that it has signed a contract to export a shipment of 8,000 tonnes of construction steel to Mexico this August.
This represents the firm’s first export order to the North American country, after the United States and Canada.
In the first half of this year Hoa Phat’s steel output reached 2.3 million tonnes, marking a rise of 29% against the same period from last year.
Approximately 750,000 tonnes of the firm’s construction steel of all kinds were exported, doubling last year’s figure. Of the total, roughly 74% consisted of steel bars, while the remainder were rolled steel.
At present, Hoa Phat’s steel products have made a presence in 25 countries around the world. The expansion into new markets such as Mexico is expected to help the firm diversify its consumption markets, thereby contributing to foreign currency collection and maintaining the country’s trade balance.
Each year the enterprise typically produces 8.5 million tonnes of crude steel, including 5.5 million tonnes of steel billet, construction steel, and three million tonnes of hot rolled coil.
