HCM City and Shenyang seek stronger cooperation in trade, technology, tourism
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Shenyang City (China) will strengthen cooperation across several key areas, particularly trade, technology, and tourism in which both cities hold strong potential and shared development priorities.

The agreement was reached during a meeting in HCM City on September 3 between Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and Li Qiang, Vice Mayor of Shenyang City who was on a working visit to the city for the 19th International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC 2025) and the 12th General Assembly of the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Global Cities (TPO).
Ha welcomed the Shenyang delegation’s visit and highlighted that following recent administrative boundary adjustments, HCM City has expanded in scale and capacity to further reinforce its role as Vietnam’s economic hub. He noted that HCM City and Shenyang share similarities in their economic structure and social development, opening up opportunities for collaboration in areas such as digital transformation, high-tech industry, and urban tourism.
Ho Chi Minh City is always ready to facilitate international businesses and investors, including those from Shenyang and across China to explore partnership opportunities in the city.
For his part, Li emphasised that Shenyang is a major centre for industry, commerce, transportation, and culture in China, with particular strengths in advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, the automotive and electronics industries, and digital innovation. He proposed that both cities deepen ties by enhancing business exchanges and collaborating in high-tech fields, specifically in semiconductor production and the automotive sector that are key sectors in both cities’ development strategies.
Since establishing a friendship relationship in 1999, HCM City and Shenyang have maintained a strong and positive partnership. Leaders from both sides expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation through increased delegation exchanges, trade forums, and business dialogues to foster sustainable and mutually beneficial development.
