HCM City photo exhibition celebrates 80 years of Vietnamese diplomacy

VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition on August 22, commemorating 80 years of Vietnamese diplomacy.

The exhibition is part of activities marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s diplomatic service (August 28, 1945 – 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Relations (1975–2025).

On display are 60 photographs documenting key milestones and achievements of the country’s diplomatic efforts, along with 20 images highlighting notable foreign affairs activities in Ho Chi Minh City.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc noted that over the past eight decades, under the clear-sighted leadership of the Party and State, Vietnam’s diplomatic sector has stood side-by-side with the nation, contributing significantly to national independence, post-war recovery, and national development.

He highlighted Ho Chi Minh City’s active role in expanding international cooperation, particularly in fields such as economy, culture, science and technology, education, and healthcare. The city continues to attract international partnerships and investment, and promotes itself as a modern, open, and globally connected urban center.

To date, Ho Chi Minh City has built friendly ties with 59 foreign localities and actively engaged in various multilateral organizations and forums, establishing itself as a trustworthy partner and appealing destination for international collaborators and investors.

On this occasion, he expressed sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its close cooperation and continued support for the city.

Earlier the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son led a delegation in offering flowers at the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh on Nguyen Hue Street. The delegation honored his enduring legacy as a visionary leader, national hero, and a distinguished cultural icon of Vietnam.

President Ho Chi Minh is especially revered as the founding father and great teacher of modern Vietnamese diplomacy. Deputy PM Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the country's diplomatic successes over the past decades have been deeply rooted in his guiding diplomatic philosophy and vision.
