Hanoi to host first national livestock & veterinary science conference
VOV.VN - Vietnam will host its first national conference on livestock and veterinary science and technology in Hanoi on March 27-28, focusing on research results, innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable industry development.
The event, to be held at the National Convention Centre, Hanoi, is expected to gather 700–750 delegates, including leaders from ministries, local authorities, research institutes, universities, enterprises, industry associations, and international organisations, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE) at a press briefing in Hanoi on March 23.
This is the first national-scale scientific and technological conference in the livestock and veterinary sector, aiming to summarize research and technology applications from 2021 - 2025 and set the development orientation for 2026–2030, emphasising innovation and digital transformation.
According to Phan Quang Minh, deputy director of the Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine, the conference holds special significance as the livestock and veterinary sector contributes about 26–28% of the total agricultural value in Vietnam. Serving as a cornerstone for food security, the sector faces complex challenges such as disease outbreaks, food safety pressures, environmental concerns, and competitiveness.
The event will feature a plenary session followed by six specialised sessions covering pigs, poultry, ruminants, animal health, vaccine and veterinary biological technology, antimicrobial resistance control, and food safety. Discussions will focus on high-quality livestock breeding, feed technology innovation, disease prevention and control, digital transformation, antibiotic management, and sustainable livestock development following a circular economy approach.
Tran Van Long, director of the Science Department at the MAE, said the sessions would propose solutions on breeding, technology, disease management, food safety control, digital transformation, and sustainable livestock development to enhance the sector’s competitiveness in an increasingly integrated global market.
Alongside the conference, a science and technology exhibition featuring approximately 20 booths will be held on March 27 - 28, showcasing new products and solutions in livestock and veterinary science. Major participating enterprises include TH, De Heus, Hung Nhon, BAF Vietnam, GreenFeed, C.P. Vietnam, Vinamilk, Hanvet, and VMC Vietnam, along with research institutes, universities, and science organisations.
