GRECO 2026: Ho Chi Minh City links technology with green growth
VOV.VN - Industrial transformation combined with green transition and digital transformation serves as a new driver for Ho Chi Minh City to restructure its economy toward smart, sustainable, and carbon-neutral development, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen Loc Ha has stressed.
The fourth Ho Chi Minh City Green Growth Products and Services Exhibition (GRECO 2026) opened on October 26 in Sai Gon ward, featuring nearly 90 domestic and foreign organisations and businesses.
In his opening speech, Vice Chairman Nguyen Loc Ha said that Ho Chi Minh City is entering a new development phase, identifying industrial transformation alongside green and digital transitions as core tasks.
This concrete step implements the National Green Growth Strategy and Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.
Over the the nine-month period of 2026, Ho Chi Minh City's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reached an estimated VND2.46 quadrillion (over US$96 billion), up 9.06% year-on-year, while the index of industrial production rose 10.9%. The city attracted over US$17.8 billion in foreign direct investment, a 323.1% increase year-on-year, driven by investor interest in high technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
However, the city also faces competitive pressure and increasingly stringent green standards and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) requirements from international markets. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City pledges to further improve its investment environment, promote green supply chain linkages in industrial parks and export processing zones, and facilitate business access to resources for production transition and enhanced governance capacity.
"GRECO 2026 is a practical initiative concretizing the city's strategic directions. Rather than a mere exhibition, it serves as an integrated platform and a bridge for economic transition, helping businesses access advanced technologies, shaping sustainable production mindsets, and raising public awareness to build a green consumer market for the city," Nguyen Loc Ha said.
GRECO 2026, organized as part of the Autumn Economic Forum 2026, covers an area of approximately 11,000 square metres with nearly 300 booths, expected to attract 100,000 visitors.
The exhibition introduces solutions in AI, semiconductor microchips, robotics, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, and circular economy. The event aims to connect businesses with research institutes, universities, and international partners as a way of promoting technology application, sustainable production, green consumption, and competitiveness in global value chains.
