FPT sets up automotive software firm in US
FPT has announced the establishment of FPT Automotive specializing in automotive software, with headquarters in Texas, the US, in the plan to enter the automobile software market worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
Modern vehicles contain up to 100 electronic control units which require up to 100 million code lines. Software, sensors and similar components are expected to account for 50 percent of vehicle costs by 2030, twice as much as 20% in 2020.
The global automotive industry is expected to spend US$238 billion by 2030 when shifting to electric vehicles.
FPT Automotive in the US will focus on the US, Europe, Japan, the Republic of Korea, China and Vietnam as key markets.
FPT has been operating in software technology for more than 10 years and has 4,000 engineers and experts in automotive software. It also has a network of 150 clients some of whom are famous names, such as Honda, Hyundai, Volvo, VinFast, Ford, Yazaki, LG, Panasonic and NXP.
With its many years of experience and strong capability, FPT will provide comprehensive services to clients, including entertainment technology, information inside cars, ECU (electronic control unit), safety and security functions, UI/UX designing for cars, wireless connection and digital technique.
The heart of the service is MaaZ and AUTOSA, exclusive for ECU solutions which the company has developed and gained great achievements.
FPT Automotive commits to strict compliance with industry standards such as ISO26262 for functional safety management and Automotive SPICE for software development.
FPT Automotive is expected to satisfy the new requirements in the automobile industry and bring new value, launching products quickly to the market, expanding coverage, and increasing development efficiency for global vehicle manufacturers.
FPT President Truong Gia Binh, at the event announcing the establishment of FPT Automotive in the US, said FPT has many years of experience in the automobile industry, has a qualified workforce and has mastered the latest technologies such as AI, super cloud computing in the automobile sector, and computer vision.
The technology group has had cooperation with well-known names such as Landing AI and had investment in companies with more than one year of developing embedded software, IoT and mobile products such as Cardinal Peak.
FPT Automotive CEO Nguyen Duc Kinh said in the next five years the company will focus on automotive audio, integration of AI into SDV (software-defined vehicles) solutions, and development of CDC solutions, and have a complete AUTOSAR platform to ensure end-to-end development.
