Exhibition week of textile and footwear products opens in HCM City
VOV.VN - An exhibition week showcasing textile and footwear products kicked off on November 29 in Ho Chi Minh City to help businesses introduce their products and seeks export partners.
The event is jointly held by the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center (ITPC), the HCM City Textile and Embroidery Association, and the Ho Chi Minh City Leather and Footwear Association.
Upon addressing the event, Tran Phu Lu, deputy director in charge of ITPC, emphasized that the annual event serves as a bridge for local firms seeking partners and helping them to recover their production activities in the post-COVID era.
Most notable, the function also provides an ideal venue for micro and small enterprises with limited capital and technology to access to trade promotion channels and gain more insights into products and markets.
Pham Van Viet, vice chairman of the HCM City Textile and Embroidery Association pointed out that over the years, the garment and textile industry has recorded high growth and gradually affirmed its position as one of the three largest export industries in the country.
However, due to the prolonged effects of the COVID-19 pandemic coupled with the impact of global inflation, consumer demand in major markets has decreased, leading to a sharp drop in the number of export orders in the second half of the year, causing difficulties for businesses in maintaining production and keeping jobs open for workers, Viet noted.
Sharing this perspective, Nguyen Van Khanh, vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Leather and Footwear Association, stressed that with the number of leather and footwear orders significantly declining, the event is expected to be a communication channel to help businesses promote their brands.
In addition, they will be able to seek new partners and expand markets, as well as strengthening connectivity with customers and distributors in a bid to increase the number of orders, he added.
The exhibition week brings together more than 40 typical enterprises in the textile and footwear industry in Ho Chi Minh City and is expected to run through to December 5.
