EVN enhances cooperation with Japan in energy transition

VOV.VN - Dang Hoang An, chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), recently hosted a reception for representatives of Japan's IHI Corporation to discuss cooperation opportunities in the field of energy transition.

Addressing the event, Yoshii Konosuke, chief representative of IHI Vietnam, emphasised that Japanese heavy-industry manufacturer IHI Corporation is a pioneer in the world in conducting co-firing trials and has experience in biomass fuel conversion in Japan.

With extensive expertise and experience in the field of decarbonisation, he said IHI looks forward to supporting EVN in preparing a decarbonisation roadmap for its thermal power plants moving forward.

The representative of IHI Vietnam revealed that the group has been involved in the first phase of the feasibility study project for green hydrogen and ammonia production in the Vietnamese market and it is considering supporting the implementation of the second phase of the project in the coming time.

For his part, EVN chief Dang Hoang An welcomed IHI’s keen interest in the Vietnamese energy sector, as well as in the EVN's energy transition plan.

An affirmed that EVN desires to cooperate with foreign energy businesses, including IHI, in an effort to fulfil the goal of implementing energy transition successfully in the country.
