Electronics exports hit US$74 billion in H1, driven by phones and computers

VOV.VN - Vietnam raked in approximately US$74 billion from the export of phones, computers, and components in the first half of the year, increasing by more than US$10 billion compared to the same period in 2024.

The primary driver of this growth was the export of computers, electronic products, and components, which alone generated US$46.69 billion, accounting for 22% of the country’s total export value and marking a 40% year-on-year increase.

Meanwhile, exports of phones and phone components brought back US$26.89 billion, roughly equivalent to the same period in 2024, indicating a plateau in growth for this category.

Combined, the two major electronics segments contributed nearly US$74 billion, making up the largest share of Vietnam’s total export turnover, which neared US$220 billion in the reviewed period.

According to Vietnam Customs data, the United States was the largest importer of these tech goods, with a value of US$18.5 billion, marking a 65% jump. It was followed by China at US$8.2 billion, up 34.1%, and the Republic of Korea which saw a staggering 59% increase to US$4.12 billion.

Conversely, Vietnam spent US$67.9 billion on importing computers, electronics, and components in the opening six months of this year, marking an annual rise of 37.2%.
