Dong Nai province licenses three FDI projects worth nearly US$550 million

VOV.VN The People’s Committee of Dong Nai province has granted investment registration certificates to three foreign direct investment (FDI) projects worth nearly US$550 million, highlighting the province’s continued appeal to foreign investors and positive economic recovery momentum early this year.

At a meeting with FDI enterprises on February 5, the provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates to two new projects and one expansion project with a combined registered capital of nearly US$550 million.

One of the newly licensed projects is a factory operated by Jabil Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd., a Singapore-based investor, with registered capital of nearly US$80 million. The project is located at Nhon Trach II-Nhon Phu Industrial Park and specialises in manufacturing and assembling office and computer equipment, data storage devices, communication equipment and consumer electronics components.

Another Singapore-backed project, Sembcorp Integrated Hub Dong Nai 1, has registered investment of US$69.65 million at Loc An-Binh Son Industrial Park. The project focuses on leasing factories, factory-linked offices and supporting facilities.

In addition to the new projects, the tyre manufacturing plant of HAOHUA Vietnam Co., Ltd., part of China’s HAOHUA Group, received approval to increase investment capital by US$400 million, raising its total registered capital in Dong Nai to US$900 million. The project, located at Minh Hung-Sikico Industrial Park, produces semi-steel radial tyres and all-steel radial tyres for automobiles and other vehicles.

The provincial Industrial Zones and Economic Zones Authority granted the capital expansion licence for the HAOHUA project in less than 24 hours, demonstrating efforts to improve the investment environment and the province’s commitment to supporting businesses operating in Dong Nai.

Dong Nai is one of Vietnam’s major industrial hubs. The province has established 58 industrial parks, 43 of which are currently operational, covering more than 14,600 hectares with an average occupancy rate of about 76%.

According to the provincial Department of Finance, Dong Nai’s socio-economic performance in January maintained steady growth. The industrial production index rose nearly 2.5% compared with the previous month, agricultural, forestry and fishery production remained stable, and supplies of goods for the Lunar New Year were ensured. The provincial authorities are also reviewing plans to decentralise appraisal authority for local planning tasks and overall site planning for inter-communal projects.

During January, the province simultaneously launched and completed technical opening ceremonies for several projects marking the 14th National Party Congress and the anniversary of the Communist Party’s founding on February 3.

State budget revenue exceeded VND17.1 trillion, equivalent to 17% of the annual estimate, while budget expenditure surpassed VND2.5 trillion.
