Digital transformation helps SOEs become key drivers of growth in national economy
VOV.VN - Digital transformation has brought about plenty of practical benefits to state-owned enterprises (SOEs) thanks to breakthroughs and continuous innovations made in the technology field, thereby making these firms key drivers of change and growth as part of the national economy, according to industry insiders.
This assessment was made by experts at a workshop co-hosted by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and relevant agencies aimed at discussing opportunities and challenges faced by SOEs in the digital transformation process.
Upon addressing the opening ceremony, Vu Hai Quang, VOV deputy general director, emphasized that digital transformation is an inevitable trend in today's era, thereby opening up unprecedented opportunities for businesses around the world and helping governments to operate more efficiently and transparently.
Quang outlined that the development of the digital economy will also create a wealth of opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises as they seek to narrow the development gap.
He added that the function will help local firms to get more consultations from leading enterprises that have succeeded in digital transformation process and contribute to concretising major policies of the Party and State on digital transformation in the coming period.
At the event, Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, deputy director of the Department of Information Technology under the Ministry of Information and Communications revealed that 92% of businesses have expressed their keen interest or even applied digital transformation as part of their business activities.
Some 98% of firms therefore expect that digital transformation will create a significant change in terms of production and business activities by reducing costs and improving product and service quality.
Tuyen noted that thanks to data integration and intelligent analysis, digital enterprises boast the capability to collect, store, and analyze large amounts of data from different sources, which will therefore help them to optimise business operations and make smarter decisions.
Moreover, digital transformation in businesses will also help to create great value and enhance experience for customers by providing advanced and efficient products and services.
Most notably, digital businesses often bring new business models that are typically more flexible and efficient than traditional ones, which will therefore contribute to accelerating process automation, saving time and costs, and efficiently adapt to the constantly changing market.
However, Tuyen also pointed out a number of challenges faced by businesses in the digital transformation process such as large investment costs, a shortage of human resources, a lack of infrastructure, and information of digital technologies as well as a clear digital transformation roadmap.
At the workshop, representatives of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel), and relevant organisations and businesses proposed some strategies relating to digital transformation for SOEs amid the current context.
