Da Nang’s coconut crackers enter Costco Australia shelves
VOV.VN - A five-star OCOP (One Commune One Product) coconut cracker product made by a Da Nang-based company has officially entered the entire Costco Australia system for the first time, marking the debut of a Da Nang OCOP product in the country’s large-scale retail distribution network after nearly a year of rigorous assessments.
Mai Thi Y Nhi, Director of My Phuong Food Co., Ltd. in the central city of Da Nang, said the company’s baked coconut crackers are now available across all Costco stores in Australia.
The entry of a Vietnamese specialty product into a retail chain such as Costco not only boosts brand credibility and creates opportunities to expand into additional export markets, but also helps raise the profile of Da Nang’s OCOP products and Vietnam’s processed agricultural goods in international markets.
More importantly, the process has forced the company to rethink the way it operates and invest more systematically in factory operations, quality control systems, social responsibility and production capacity in order to meet the long-term requirements of global retail chains.
The milestone also opens the door for Vietnamese businesses to gradually deepen their participation in international supply chains through products carrying local value.
My Phuong Food’s baked coconut crackers are among the few Da Nang products to receive a five-star OCOP rating. The product is widely distributed at shopping malls, modern retail outlets and traditional markets in Da Nang as well as many provinces and cities nationwide. The product has also been exported to nearly 20 countries and territories.
This opens broader prospects for businesses in the central city to integrate more deeply into global distribution chains.
