Da Nang, Korean city strengthen investment and high-tech cooperation
VOV.VN - The central city of Da Nang desires to augment cooperation with the Republic of Korea (RoK) in investment, high technology, human resource training, cultural and tourism exchanges, and community-based programmes.
The remarks were made by Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, during a meeting with a delegation from Yongin city, Gyeonggi province, led by Mayor Lee Sang-Il.
At the meeting, the municipal leader reaffirmed the city’s commitment to maintaining and expanding the friendly cooperative relationship between the two localities, based on the cooperation agreement established in 2013.
The Republic of Korea currently ranks fourth among 45 countries and territories investing in Da Nang. The city hosts 345 Korean-invested projects with total registered capital exceeding US$1.3 billion, primarily in manufacturing, garment production and services.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on future cooperation priorities, focusing on economics, high-tech investment, workforce training, cultural and tourism exchanges, and community-based initiatives.
Da Nang leaders highly appreciated Yongin’s support for community projects, notably the Yongin Community Digital Library in Quang Phu Ward, which was inaugurated on January 13, 2026.
Ho Ky Minh expressed his hope that Yongin authorities would continue to support Da Nang in investment promotion, particularly in semiconductors, high technology and smart city development, thereby contributing to deeper ties between the two cities and the Vietnam-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The Vice Chairman said Da Nang will focus on developing key sectors where it has strengths, including tourism, information technology, logistics and high technology. He highlighted the Free Trade Zone and the International Financial Centre as two major priorities in the coming period, and expressed his hope for a future visit by the Yongin mayor and delegation to facilitate the early implementation of signed agreements and deliver practical results.
