Conference seeks to promote co-operation between south central provinces and India

VOV.VN - Approximately 300 Vietnamese and Indian delegates attended a conference on March 1 in Nha Trang city as part of efforts to seek ways to promote ties between India and southcentral provinces.

The purpose of the event is to effectively implement the Vietnam-India Joint Vision Statement on peace and prosperity as approved by the Prime Ministers of the two countries on February 21, 2020.

Furthermore, the function also provides an ideal venue for delegates of the two sides to enhance co-operation opportunities in six fields, including investment, trade, health, education, tourism, and information technology.

Upon addressing the event, Le Huu Hoang, standing vice chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that the locality has committed to creating optimal conditions for Indian businesses in order to co-operate and conduct business in Vietnam, thereby making significant contributions to the socio-economic development of the locality and the southcentral region as a whole.

Hoang expressed his hope that the event will provide a fresh impetus to the business community of Khanh Hoa, southcentral provinces, and India to strengthen trade exchanges and further enhance ties between Vietnam and India moving forward.

During the course of the conference, Le Tan Ho, standing vice chairman of the Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee, introduced the province's advantages in terms of stepping up linkages with Indian investors, adding that the locality has attracted dozens of foreign investment projects capitalised at nearly US$2 billion, including those from two Indian enterprises.

Ho expressed his hope at continuing to welcome additional reputable investors from India to Phu Yen to survey and explore investment opportunities in the fields that India has strengths in, including hi-tech industrial park infrastructure, high-tech agriculture, aquaculture, education, and health.

For his part, Nguyen Long Bien, vice chairman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, suggested that the Vietnamese Embassy in India and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City facilitate Indian investors’ survey and investment operations, adding that the province is fully committed to creating favourable conditions for Indian investors to collect information, carry out investment registration procedures, and enjoy investment incentives moving forward.

Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai pointed out that both countries represent each other's comprehensive strategic partners with two–way trade turnover exceeding the US$15 billion last year.

The Vietnamese diplomat expressed his hope that with the advantages of the provinces of Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, and Ninh Thuan, co-operation between Vietnamese and Indian businesses will grow even stronger in the future.
