Chinese businesses explore investment opportunities in Can Tho
VOV.VN - The Can Tho City People’s Committee received a delegation from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of September 5.

At the reception, Deputy Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep said that after the administrative merger, the Hoa community in Can Tho has grown significantly, contributing actively to the city’s development.
With a natural area of over 6,300 km² and a population of around four million, Can Tho is poised to become a growth hub of the Mekong Delta, an ecological and modern city, and a regional center for trade, tourism, logistics, high-tech agriculture, and science and technology.
By 2050, the city targets becoming a smart, waterway-rich urban center and one of Asia’s relatively advanced cities.
Can Tho is calling for investment in high-tech agriculture, agro-processing, mechanized production, post-harvest preservation, agricultural export, urban infrastructure, seaports, high-tech zones, tech clusters, and digital technology parks.
On behalf of the delegation, Chinese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Deng Li, said the visit aims to explore investment opportunities in Can Tho. Chinese businesses are ready to cooperate and support the city’s development, including opening flights to enhance trade and collaboration in tourism, freight transport, and infrastructure.
After the administrative merger, Can Tho has expanded development space, with river and seaports and abundant natural resources, offering huge potential for future growth.
As of now, Can Tho hosts 33 FDI projects from Chinese investors, with a total registered capital of approximately US$930 million.
