Ceiling airfares officially increase on March 1
VOV.VN - The ceiling price of airfares on domestic flights officially edged up on March 1 in line with Circular 34 which was recently issued by the Ministry of Transport (MoT).
Specifically, the ceiling price of air tickets for routes longer than 500km has been subject to an increase of between VND50,000 and VND250,000 for one-way tickets compared to previous regulations, depending on the length of each route.
Under the latest regulations, ceiling prices on domestic routes have been adjusted to increase by 5% in comparison to the previous level.
According to the changes, the ceiling airfare for socio-economic development routes with a distance of less than 500km now stands at VND1,600,000 per one-way ticket and VND1,700,000 for other routes.
The ceiling price of tickets for routes of between 500km and 850km is VND2,250,000 per one-way ticket.
The airfare for routes of between 850km and 1,000km is now to be sold at VND2,890,000 per one-way ticket and at VND 3,400,000 for routes of between 1,000km and 1,280km. Meanwhile, tickets for routes with a distance of 1,280km are to be priced at VND4,000,000 per one-way ticket.
The maximum price includes all costs a passenger must pay for an airline's service, excluding value added tax and fees collected on behalf of the airport, including passenger service fees and security assurance fees, luggage, and service charges with additional items.
According to experts, loosening the ceiling airfare will help airlines to implement flexible pricing policies, introduce more appropriate programmes for customers, as well as providing passengers with diverse options for products and services in line with their needs.
