Can Tho exports first batch of mangoes to Australia and US
VOV.VN - The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho hosted a ceremony on June 18 to unveil the export of the first batch of green-skinned mangoes to both Australia and the United States.
The initial mango batch will be exported to these markets by the Vina T&T Company. One tonne will be exported to the Australian market, while a further tonne will be shipped to the US market.
Nguyen Ngoc He, vice chairman of the Can Tho People's Committee, stated that the event mark the transformation of the agricultural sector in response to market requirements, with a specific focus on strengthening value chain linkages with businesses and establishing specialised growing areas for export.
At present, Can Tho city has a total fruit growing area of over 25,000 hectares. The locality boasts 193 growing area codes with a total area of 2,600 hectares.
In line with this capacity, several high-quality products of the city have been exported to many demanding markets.
The export of the first batch of green-skinned mangos to the fastidious markets initially opened a new direction for the mango industry, and outlined a linkage orientation for other fruit growing areas.
