An Giang exports first batch of flat-seed mangoes to RoK

VOV.VN - The first 13 tonne-batch of Vietnamese flat-seed mangoes was shipped to the Republic of Korea (RoK) from the Mekong Delta’s An Giang province on February 19.

This marks the first time that An Giang has exported the fruit to the Korean market.

The mangoes were cultivated under VietGAP standards in Cho Moi district in the province.

The export contract was signed between the GAP Cu Lao Gieng Cooperative of Cho Moi district and the Hoang Phat Fruit Company Limited.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, vice chairwoman of the An Giang provincial People’s Committee, noted that the locality had exported the second batch abroad this year following two first batches of mangoes shipped to the United States and Australia on January 5, showing close cooperation among businesses, cooperatives, and farmers.

She expressed hope that farmers would continue to adhere to technical standards in foreign countries as local authorities plan to export mangos to many more markets moving forward.

Cho Moi district is home to around 6,200 hectares of mango cultivation, the largest in An Giang. It boasts 704 hectares of mango under VietGAP standards and has issued 41 growing area codes for exports to China, the US, the RoK, Japan, and Australia.
