Bustling shopping atmosphere during May Day holiday in HCM City

VOV.VN - Despite not being a peak shopping day, the shopping scene in Ho Chi Minh City on May 1– International Labor Day, remained lively, with many supermarkets and shopping malls, including Vincom, AEON Mall, Co.opmart, Lotte Mart, and Big C, drawing crowds as they launched attractive promotional campaigns to boost consumer spending.

Co.opmart and Co.opXtra rolled out discounts ranging from 15% to 50% on food, household items, and private-label products. WinMart provided price cuts of up to 50% on essential goods. Big C and Tops Market joined in with up to 50% off on more than 1,000 items, including various Vietnamese agricultural products. Lotte Mart’s “Red-hot Super Sale” featured more than 5,000 discounted products, while MM Mega Market discounted vegetables, fruits, and over 50 other essential goods.

Popular fashion brands also joined the sales, with Adidas, Couple TX, An Phuoc, and Owen offering discounts of 15% to 50% along with gifts for shoppers. At Vincom, more than 2,600 stores participated in the sale, creating a festive atmosphere with entertainment activities that attracted both locals and tourists.

Shoppers took full advantage of the holiday to stock up on everyday necessities and find good deals. Retailers are optimistic that consumer spending during this year’s International Labor Day holiday will increase by 30%–50% compared to regular days.
