Legislators cast secret ballots to elect the Vice State President, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy in Hanoi on July 27, the sixth working day of the 14 th National Assembly’s first session.

The 14th National Assembly (NA)’s first session convened a plenary sitting in Hanoi on July 26 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

President Tran Dai Quang has proposed candidates for the positions of Vice President, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy. 

Nguyen Xuan Phuc was voted in as Prime Minister of Vietnam at the first session of the 14th National Assembly on July 26 afternoon. 

As many as 485 out of 489 deputies present at the July 26 plenary session of the 14th National Assembly, or 98.18 percent, voted for Nguyen Xuan Phuc as Prime Minister for the 2016-2021 tenure. 

President Tran Dai Quang has called for united resolve and concerted efforts of the entire Party, army and people in realising six focal tasks set in the 12th Party Congress’s Resolution.

Deputies at the 14th National Assembly have expressed confidence in Tran Dai Quang, who was re-elected as the State President in the July 25 election with 98.18 percent of votes.

The Law Committee of the 14th National Assembly convened its first plenary meeting on July 25. 

President Tran Dai Quang proposed Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister since April 2016, as the only candidate for the post of Prime Minister in the 2016-2021 tenure on July 26 morning during the first session of the 14th National Assembly.
