Vietnam, Laos step up inspection work

The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GIV) and the Government Inspection Authority of Laos (GIA) are hoped to expand and deepen their comprehensive cooperation, especially in experience exchange.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) receives Deputy Prime Minister of Laos Bunthoong Chitmany
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the remark while receiving Bunthoong Chitmany, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, President of the GIA and Head of the Anti-Corruption Authority, in Hanoi on July 25.

The PM said the Vietnamese Government and the GIV in particular will prioritise supporting Laos to improve professional skills.

He hailed the outcome of the talks between the two countries’ inspection authorities, which contribute to improving the legal mechanism in the field as well as promote experience sharing and enhance efficiency in the inspection work.

The PM hailed the Lao Government for launching anti-corruption campaigns. He told the guest about the corruption prevention and combat in Vietnam and reiterated the country’s strong determination in this drive.

Bunthoong Chitmany said the Lao Government resolutely curbs and handles corruption while reinforcing Party building from the central to grassroots levels.

He welcomed PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s order for closure of natural forests in the Central Highlands to mitigate illegal logging.

The GIA hopes to continue exchanging professional experience with Vietnam in the inspection work, particularly handling complaints and denouncements, and preventing corruption, he said, adding that this will help further the traditional friendship, special amity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

During earlier talks, Bunthoong Chitmany and Governor Inspector General of Vietnam Phan Van Sau agreed on necessary measures to sign further cooperation agreements between the two sides at the end of 2016.
