UN official shares peacekeeping experience in Vietnam

Former UN Under-Secretary General for the Department of Field Support Ameerah Hap shared her experience with the Vietnam Peacekeeping Center during her visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting on May 10, the official, now working as policy counselor for the UN, said Vietnam needs assistance from experienced countries, especially in training and techniques, to join peacekeeping activities effectively.

She expressed her support for Vietnamese officials’ engagement in UN peacekeeping agencies.

Representatives from the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre highlighted the country’s achievements in the field.

After dispatching some officials to missions at UN agencies, Vietnam is working to realise its goal of setting up a second-class field hospital and a sapper company to join UN peacekeeping activities, they noted.
