At the meeting, Phuc congratulated the Lao Prime Minister on Laos’ achievements in domestic and external affairs this year.

Thongloun Sisoulith said he is pleased with the effective partnership between Laos and Vietnam, particularly in trade, investment, energy and transport.

He hailed the significance of the upcoming visit to Laos of General Secretary of the Vietnam Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong, saying it will help bring the two countries’ traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation to new heights.

Both sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges and meetings of high-ranking officials, make thorough preparation for the upcoming 39th session of the Vietnam-Laos trans-governmental committee, and implement joint projects for mutual benefits.

They pledged to boost efforts to carry out the agreement on collaboration between the two governments in 2016, in order to lay the groundwork for the implementation of Vietnam-Laos cooperation agreement for 2016-2020.

The same day, Prime Minister Phuc received representatives from the association of Vietnamese expatriates in Siem Reap.
Phuc said during a recent meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, he requested the Cambodian Government to facilitate Vietnamese expats in securing their legal status.

He noted that the issue will continue to be on the agenda of upcoming meetings between Vietnamese and Cambodian senior officials.
On the occasion, Phuc presented five tonnes of rice for needy Vietnamese in Siem Reap.
