Party leader greets IMF Managing Director

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on March 18 received the visiting IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Party chief said Vietnam is committed to comprehensive reform to become a modern industrial country in the time ahead, adding that he was delight to see practical cooperation between Vietnam and the IMF in policy consultation, human resources and international integration.

The IMF Chief in turn extolled Vietnam’s tremendous achievements in boosting socio- economic development, improving education quality and fostering inclusive and sustainable growth. 

She voiced her strong support for Vietnam in its reform, especially in the banking sector, state owned enterprises, fiscal policy and women advancement.

Christine Lagarde affirmed her organization's willingness to provide necessary technical support and consultancy for Vietnam in consolidating its fiscal policy, ensuring public debt safety, promoting the management of the macro-economy and the finance-banking system to support sustainable growth.
