Colombia wants to extend cooperation ties with Vietnam for mutual benefits
VOV.VN - Colombia considers Vietnam a leading partner in Southeast Asia and wants to extend cooperation ties for mutual benefits, said President Juan Manuel Santos at a July 14 talks with Vice State President Dang Ngoc Thinh who is on a visit to the country.

The two sides reviewed bilateral ties in recent times and agreed that political ties have been strengthened and consolidated through exchange visits and meetings between their leaders on the sidelines of international meetings.
Trade exchange between the two countries has constantly increased and hit more than US$364 million in 2015.
Vietnam and Colombia have closely coordinated at international organizations and multilateral forums, especially at United Nations.
The two leaders discussed specific measures to foster mutual understanding and multifaceted cooperation, such as accelerating exchange visits, establishing a joint committee on economics, trade, investment, science and technology cooperation, maintaining political consultation at deputy-ministerial level and speeding up negotiations to sign cooperation deals.
They also compared notes on regional and international issues of mutual concerns. They agreed that the two countries will continue to cooperate at international organizations and multilateral forums, share stance on handling sovereignty disputes through negotiations and peaceful dialogues in accordance with international law.
Earlier, Vice State President Thinh and Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in agriculture, forestry, livestock and fisheries between the Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Colombia Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and a cultural cooperation program in 2017-2019 between the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Colombia Ministry of Culture.
