VR experience at Hanoi Book Street to bring visitors back to 1945 moment
VOV.VN - Visitors to Hanoi Book Street will have an opportunity to experience the historic moment when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, through a virtual reality (VR) programme from October 10 to 11.
Titled “Returning to the Sacred Moment”, the programme is to mark the 72nd anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day on October 10.
Using VR technology, visitors will be immersed in a recreation of Ba Dinh Square on the afternoon of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
They can experience the atmosphere of Ba Dinh Square, joining the crowd gathered before the grandstand and listening to President Ho Chi Minh deliver the Declaration of Independence, while gaining a sense of the spirit surrounding the nation’s first day of independence and freedom.
The programme is organised by Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in collaboration with the administration of Cua Nam Ward, and implemented by VTC News, an arm of VOV, and the Centre for Culture, Information and Sports, with the cooperation of Virtual Park.
The VR-based historical recreation programme was first introduced in Hanoi in 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2, attracting more than 35,000 visitors. It was subsequently held in Quang Ninh province in September that year.
From May 17 to 19 this year, the programme was brought to the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site in Nghe An province, President Ho Chi Minh’s hometown, where more than 3,000 people experienced the VR recreation.
The programme then moved to the Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City from August 19 to 21, attracting 8,000 visitors. At APEC Park in Da Nang, the event welcomed more than 5,000 visitors during its three-day run from September 2 to 4.
The latest edition at Hanoi Book Street will offer visitors another opportunity to experience a digitally recreated historical scene and engage with the nation’s past through immersive technology.
