Vietnamese Cultural Day celebrated in China, marking 75 years of diplomatic ties
VOV.VN - A special programme Vietnamese Cultural Day was held at the China National Opera House in Beijing on December 21 to introduce the distinctive cultural values of Vietnam and its people to Chinese and international audiences.
The programme marked the conclusion of a series of meaningful cultural exchange activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as the Vietnam–China Year of Humanistic Exchange 2025.
In her opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Trinh Thi Thuy emphasised that, under the strategic guidance of the two Parties and States, Vietnam-China relations have entered a new stage of development, moving toward the building of a Vietnam–China community with a shared future of strategic significance. She highlighted that strategic trust serves as the foundation of bilateral ties, while people-centred cooperation and mutually beneficial outcomes are key driving forces for sustainable development.
According to the Deputy Minister, within the framework of the six major cooperation orientations (stronger political trust, more substantial defence-security cooperation, deeper practical collaboration, a firmer social foundation, closer multilateral coordination, and better management of differences), exchanges in culture, sports and tourism between the two countries have become increasingly dynamic. China remains Vietnam’s largest source of international visitors, with nearly 4.8 million arrivals in the first 11 months of 2025, accounting for approximately 25% of total international tourists to Vietnam, contributing significantly to the success of the Vietnam–China Year of Humanistic Exchange 2025.
Vietnamese Culture Day in China, highlighted by the Vietnam–China Friendship Art Programme performed by Vietnamese artists, is not only a meaningful celebration of the Year of Humanistic Exchange and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, but also opens new opportunities for cultural cooperation between the two countries in the coming period, noted the official.
Also addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh stated that over the past year, Vietnam and China have conducted five high-level visits, notably the state visit by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam in April 2025, which marked a historic milestone and opened a new chapter of deeper and more comprehensive bilateral relations.
He underscored that cultural exchange serves as a lasting bridge, connecting the hearts and minds of the two peoples, fostering mutual understanding, and strengthening the solid public support foundation for the Vietnam–China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
The art programme titled Colours of Culture presented a vivid cultural panorama, blending traditional Vietnamese music and dance with contemporary creativity, alongside selected Chinese artistic works. Performed by People’s Artists and Meritorious Artists from the Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theatre and the Vietnam National Academy of Music, the performance delivered an emotional and inspiring message celebrating friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China.
In addition to the artistic performances, a photo exhibition themed Vietnam – A Leading Heritage Destination of the World offered international audiences a vivid introduction to Vietnam’s rich cultural and natural heritage. With more than 70 UNESCO-recognised titles, including world heritage sites, intangible cultural heritage, documentary heritage, biosphere reserves, global geoparks and creative cities, Vietnam was presented as a destination where cultural preservation, environmental protection and sustainable development go hand in hand.
During the visit, Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy also held a working meeting with Gao Zheng, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, to review bilateral cooperation outcomes and discuss directions for collaboration in culture and tourism for 2026 and beyond, contributing to the implementation of shared high-level understandings on building the Vietnam–China Community with a shared future.
