Chinese media highlight Vietnam-China relations as model of cooperation and friendship

VOV.VN - In recent days, major Chinese state-run outlets such as Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television (CCTV), People’s Daily and Global Times have widely reported on high-level exchanges between Vietnam and China during official visits and celebrations of important national anniversaries in both countries.

According to Chinese media, during talks with President Luong Cuong on the occasion of his working trip to China for the 80th anniversary of the world’s victory over fascism, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that the two countries must always remember their shared history, honor the forebears and fallen heroes, enhance strategic cooperation, safeguard the achievements of the victory in World War II, uphold fairness and international justice, and stand firmly on the right side of history.

President Xi underlined that China supports Vietnam in pursuing a socialist path suited to its own conditions and in successfully organizing the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. With the spirit of being “both comrades and brothers,” he said, the two sides should deepen exchanges on Party building and state governance, effectively organize activities to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam–China Year of People-to-People Exchanges, and deliver practical benefits to their peoples.

Meanwhile, during his meeting with President Luong Cuong in Beijing on September 4, Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, emphasized that both China and Vietnam are committed to pursuing a socialist path suited to their respective circumstances. China, he affirmed, is ready to work with Vietnam to effectively implement the outcomes of President Xi Jinping’s visit to Vietnam in April this year, consolidate strategic trust, maintain mutual support, and promote development together.

The National People’s Congress is also ready to increase exchanges with Vietnam’s National Assembly, thereby contributing to deepening the strategic significance of building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future.

Earlier, according to CCTV, at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man, Zhao Leji led a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and State to pay an official visit to Vietnam and attend the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day (September 2), held from August 31 to September 2, 2025.

During the visit, Zhao Leji had meetings with Party General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and held talks with National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

In the meetings, Zhao said China is willing to work with Vietnam to realize the important common perceptions reached by the top leaders of the two Parties, step up exchanges of governance experience under the shared goals of “six betters,” jointly advance socialist modernization in each country, and accelerate the building of a Vietnam–China community with a shared future of strategic significance.

The Chinese legislator stressed that the two countries should leverage the strengths of their socialist systems to cope with external uncertainties, firmly support each other’s reform and development, and jointly oppose unilateralism and protectionism.

He added that China is ready to deepen strategic development linkages with Vietnam, expand cooperation in traditional areas, ramp up cooperation in emerging sectors, and jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system and the smooth operation of global production and supply chains.

During talks with the top Vietnamese legislator, Zhao noted that the Chinese people wish to intensify institutionalized exchanges with Vietnam’s legislature, learn from each other’s experience in legislation and supervision, and provide a sound legal framework for practical cooperation between the two countries.

CCTV also reported that this year marks the 75th anniversary of Vietnam–China diplomatic ties and the “Vietnam–China Year of People-to-People Exchanges.” China and Vietnam share a border, enjoy cultural proximity, close people-to-people bonds, similar political systems and interlinked destinies.

Over the past 75 years, their relationship has evolved from the traditional friendship of being “both comrades and brothers” into a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, becoming a model of friendship, mutual support, solidarity and cooperation among nations.
