Vietnamese-Australian boy wins first prize at Hong Kong Int'l Music Festival

VOV.VN - Vietnamese-Australian boy, Nguyen Lee Hieu, has claimed the first prize in the Guitar - Ukulele category at the Hong Kong International Music Festival 2024 (HKIMF).

The eight-year-old guitarist impressed judges with his outstanding performance of the song “While my guitar gently weeps” which featured in the album White released back in 1968 by the famous band The Beatles.

Lee Hieu is currently studying at an international primary school in Ho Chi Minh City. He participated in several international music competitions and festivals in both the United States and Malaysia and recorded impressive results. He also was chosen among 28 out of 60 winners to perform at the closing ceremony of the festival.

This year, the Hong Kong International Music Festival 2024 attracted 90,000 contestants from 120 countries across the world, competing in 32 categories such as piano, violin, guitar, vocals, jazz drums, choir, and chamber music.
