Vietnamese Ao Dai shines at international concert in Budapest
VOV.VN - Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) was featured at an international concert in Budapest, opening the performance of opera singer Miklósa Erika and the Budapest Jazz Orchestra in celebration of Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20.

The event was part of the “Vietnamese Ao Dai Cultural Month in Europe,” initiated by the Vietnamese Women’s Forum in Europe and the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club under the Vietnam Ao Dai Cultural Association. The initiative honors the Ao Dai as a symbol of national identity and highlights Vietnamese women’s creativity in promoting their culture abroad.
This marked the first time a Vietnamese Ao Dai showcase had been incorporated into a classical concert in Hungary, offering a fresh approach to presenting Vietnamese culture to international friends
The opening performance impressed both Hungarian and foreign spectators with its graceful designs and traditional patterns under soft stage lighting, blending Eastern elegance with Western artistry and celebrating the sophistication and confidence of Vietnamese women in the era of global integration.

Dr. Phan Bich Thien, Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Women’s Association in Hungary, said that presenting the Ao Dai within a concert by a world-class artist was a creative way to promote Vietnamese values. She emphasized that for overseas Vietnamese, such initiatives not only celebrate national heritage but also deepen cultural connections with the host community.
During the event, Dr. Phan presented Hungarian opera singer Miklósa Erika with a handcrafted Ao Dai made by Vietnamese artisans- a symbolic gift reflecting the friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Hungary.
The event helped bring Vietnam’s image and cultural values closer to international friends, demonstrating the creativity and pride of Vietnamese women in Europe as they continue to let the ao dai shine on the global stage.
