Vietnam Yosakoi Festival opens, highlighting Vietnam–Japan cultural ties
VOV.VN - The fourth Vietnam Yosakoi Festival opened at the Tam Chuc Tourist Area in Ninh Binh province on April 25, featuring dance troupes from Vietnam and Japan.
The event was co-organised by the Vietnam–Japan Cultural Exchange Association, the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, Tam Chuc Tourist Area, and partners from both countries. It brought together representatives from cultural agencies, local authorities, the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, and friendship organisations.
In his opening remarks, Le Ngoc Dinh, chairman of the Vietnam–Japan Cultural Exchange Association, said the festival serves as a platform to strengthen mutual understanding and cultural connectivity between the two countries, while also promoting Tam Chuc as an emerging tourism destination and fostering wider cooperation in tourism, trade and investment.
The opening ceremony introduced performances by 10 Yosakoi teams, including five from Vietnam and five from Japan, with 242 dancers delivering vibrant and high-energy performances reflecting the spirit of the traditional Japanese dance style.
Beyond artistic performances, the festival is positioned as a cultural bridge between Vietnam and Japan, promoting people-to-people exchange and long-term cultural engagement.
The programme will continue at AEON Mall Ha Dong in Hanoi on April 26, with 30 teams taking part, including 21 Vietnamese and nine Japanese groups.
