Vietnam positions itself as Asia’s premier exhibition destination

VOV.VN - With the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC)-Southeast Asia’s largest exhibition complex, and strong support from government, businesses, and international partners, Vietnam is poised to emerge as a leading exhibition hub in Asia.

As the global exhibition sector shifts toward Asia, Vietnam has emerged as a promising new destination. The seminar “Vietnam-A New Destination to Asia's Exposition Future”, held on August 29 in Hanoi, affirmed this direction, with participation from government officials, experts, and international partners.

Opening the seminar, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong highlighted the exhibition industry’s crucial role in national development, emphasizing its impact on economic growth, cultural exchange, and international cooperation.

Exhibitions are not only trade channels but are closely linked with culture, entertainment, and tourism, while promoting national identity and attracting investment.

The Ministry will focus on four directions: developing exhibitions integrated with the cultural-creative ecosystem, boosting tourism through international trade fairs, building modern exhibition centers such as VEC, and strengthening public-private partnerships to position Vietnam as Asia’s exhibition destination.

From an economic perspective, Head of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency at the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vu Ba Phu underlined that exhibitions provide an effective platform for Vietnamese businesses to integrate globally. Through national trade promotion programs and the national brand initiative, thousands of companies have reached buyers, signed contracts, and promoted products worldwide. VEC is recognized as a reliable partner, playing a key role in implementing national trade promotion events successfully.

Covering more than 900,000 m², VEC ranks among the world’s top ten and is Southeast Asia’s largest exhibition complex. The Kim Quy Exhibition Hall, inspired by the Golden Turtle of Co Loa, symbolizes intelligence and national identity.

VEC CEO Phạm Thai Ha stated that the center is not only event infrastructure but also a gateway connecting Vietnam to the world. At the opening of the National Achievements Exhibition on August 28, over 230,000 visitors attended, surpassing expectations.

From an international expert perspective, Vietnam is moving in the right direction to become a new exhibition hub. Ramona Fischer from GL Events, a global French group specializing in events, conferences, and exhibitions, said for Hanoi and VEC to become a top destination for international trade fairs, key factors must be simultaneously promoted: streamlined visa procedures, accessibility to exhibited goods, government support, and a comprehensive service ecosystem.

Fischer particularly praised VEC’s modern and flexible infrastructure, capable of hosting both exhibitions and conferences in modular formats. In addition, flexible financial policies, sustainable practices, and commitments to security and logistics will help Vietnam build lasting trust with international organizers.

From management and trade promotion to infrastructure and international recognition, Vietnam possesses the conditions to become a leading regional exhibition hub. Deputy Minister Ho An Phong affirmed that with government determination, private sector dynamism, and cooperation with international partners, Vietnam can fully establish itself as Asia’s premier exhibition destination.

VEC’s presence strengthens Vietnam’s position on the global exhibition map, opening plenty of opportunities for trade, culture, and technology exchanges, marking the country as a convergence point between national identity and global trends.
