Vietnam Pavilion marks Francophone Week with cultural activities at EXPO 2025 Osaka

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai in Japan hosted a broad array of cultural activities celebrating Francophonie Week and promoting the image of Vietnam.

On July 10, the pavilion welcomed Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), as part of her visit to EXPO 2025.

Mushikiwabo expressed her delight at experiencing traditional Vietnamese musical instruments, even giving an impromptu performance on the pavilion's stage.

To mark the visit, the Vietnam Pavilion organised several activities, including the launch of a music video titled Magic in the Air, featuring participation from most OIF member countries represented at EXPO 2025. Mushikiwabo praised the pavilion for producing a youthful and vibrant video that reflected the solidarity of the Francophone community.

On this occasion, Do Lan Phuong, Director of the Vietnam Pavilion, presented some of Vietnam’s notable achievements and future development vision to the OIF Secretary General and delegation, including the planned North–South high-speed railway project set to begin construction in 2027.

The pavilion also screened an introductory video about the OIF. In addition, hundreds of visitors took part in an interactive game designed to raise awareness of the Francophone community and Vietnam’s active participation in the organisation.

Mushikiwabo had previously visited the Vietnam Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai. This marks the second time the OIF Secretary General has chosen the Vietnam Pavilion as part of her itinerary at EXPO, one of the world’s three largest global events.

Established on March 20, 1970, the OIF brings together French-speaking countries and territories to promote the French language and cultural diversity. The organisation now comprises 88 member states and governments, with Vietnam joining in 1970.
