Vietnam National Day marked at World EXPO Osaka with cultural highlights

VOV.VN - Vietnam National Day at World EXPO Osaka in Kansai, Japan, opened on the morning of September 9, featuring diverse activities that highlighted the country’s cultural identity and development ambitions.

The event themed “Future Society for Our Lives”, aims to promote the image of Japan and its people while showcasing the country’s important role in fostering global peace, cooperation, and development. It also seeks to create an inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future for everyone.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long expressed his pleasure at attending the event, noting that the event was held in Osaka, which he described as both a dynamic and traditional city, as well as a vibrant economic and cultural hub of the Kansai region.

He highlighted the significance of the global-scale event, stressing that the exhibition presents an opportunity for countries and international organizations to display their achievements and share ideas, initiatives, and solutions for socio-economic development.

The event also serves to promote national images, facilitate cultural exchange and trade, and advance the development of science and technology, thereby addressing global challenges and shape a shared future.

He said that Vietnam has chosen the theme of an inclusive society with people at the center, aiming to highlight the nation’s heroic history, dynamic and open economy, rich cultural diversity, and a society known for its hospitality, stability, and safety.  All of this, he added, is to ensure a prosperous and happy life for all Vietnamese people, "leaving no one behind."

“It is especially meaningful that this year’s Vietnam National Day is held in September, as the Vietnamese people solemnly celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam,” he elaborated.

At a meeting with Governor of Osaka Prefecture Yoshimura Hirofumi on September 8, Deputy PM Le Thanh Long expressed satisfaction with the positive progress of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, particularly the strong locality-to-locality cooperation, marked by the formation of over 100 partnership agreements between provinces and cities of both countries.

Economic cooperation remains a bright spot with numerous Osaka-based enterprises actively investing in Vietnam, he said, adding that people-to-people exchanges and close cultural cooperation have played a crucial role in deepening mutual understanding between the two nations.

Governor Yoshimura highlighted the ongoing cooperation between Osaka Prefecture and Vietnam, noting that in addition to its partnership with Ho Chi Minh City established in 2017, Osaka has also developed ties with several other Vietnamese localities. Cooperation span various fields, including economy, investment, environment, labor, education, and people-to-people exchange.

Osaka Prefecture has established a representative office in Vietnam to assist Japanese businesses in exploring investment opportunities while expressing his intention to visit Vietnam in the near future to further strengthen economic ties and attract high-quality Vietnamese talent.

The Vietnam Pavilion at EXPO 2025 is expected to be among the most visited national pavilions by both Japanese and international guests, he added.
