Vietnam International Art Exhibition 2025 postponed amid instabilities
VOV.VN - The Organizing Committee of the Vietnam International Art Exhibition 2025 has officially announced the postponement of this year’s event, originally scheduled to take place in Hanoi this summer.
The decision follows a comprehensive review of current global and regional developments, including consultations with local authorities, international partners, and participating galleries.
While preparations had been progressing according to schedule, organizers concluded that prevailing conditions present significant challenges that could jeopardize the success of the exhibition. Key contributing factors include: Regional instability: Recent natural disasters and heightened environmental risks across Southeast Asia, especially in neighboring Thailand, have disrupted logistics and raised safety concerns for international participants.
Global economic uncertainty: Ongoing political tensions and shifting trade policies, particularly from the United States, have sparked apprehension about a broader economic downturn.
This could negatively affect collector turnout, art market transactions, and overall investment confidence. Domestic transitions: Vietnam is also experiencing notable socio-economic changes, which may impact local engagement and event outcomes.
Although the exhibition remains technically feasible under the current timeline, the Organizing Committee has opted for a postponement in order to safeguard the interests of its partners, including galleries, artists, collectors, and sponsors.
“This is not a decision we have made lightly,” said Vincent Lau, a spokesperson for the Organizing Committee. “Out of respect for our partners and the integrity of the fair, we believe it is in everyone’s best interest to wait for a more stable and promising environment.”
A revised date for the Vietnam International Art Exhibition will be announced in due course, pending further developments and improved conditions.
