Vietnam Festival at Yoyogi 2026 a highly anticipated cultural event in Tokyo
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Festival at Yoyogi 2026 was introduced at a press conference held by the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan on May 12, with organizers describing it as one of the most anticipated annual cultural events for people in Tokyo and surrounding areas, as well as international visitors.
This year’s festival at Yoyogi Park will take place on May 30-31 with the participation of several prominent Japanese politicians on the organizing committee, including former Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, Yuko Obuchi, Chairperson of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, and former Lower House member Yuichiro Aoyagi.
The event will feature 120 booths and a range of activities, including Vietnamese water puppet performances, performances by popular singers and artists, and showcases of Vietnam’s world-renowned cuisine. Organizers said the festival is expected to continue bringing fresh experience to visitors from Tokyo and nearby areas, along with international tourists.
Pham Quang Hieu, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Japan and Head of the organizing board, said a new feature this year would allow visitors to order food from festival booths by phone in an effort to reduce waiting times and improve the visitor experience.
At the press conference, former lawmaker Aoyagi, co-head of the organizing board, said the festival stands as a clear example of how Vietnam-Japan exchanges have helped and will continue to help open new chapters in bilateral relations.
“We will do our utmost to ensure the festival’s success, bring visitors enjoyable moments and create opportunities for first-time attendees to enjoy the festival,” Aoyagi said. “Let us work together for the success of the Vietnam Festival.”
According to the organizing board, the 17th Vietnam Festival at Yoyogi Park in 2025 attracted around 140,000 visitors, while attendance this year could exceed 180,000.
After 17 successful editions attracting millions of visitors, the Vietnam Festival at Yoyogi Park has become a key cultural fixture, a well-established cultural brand and a highly anticipated event not only in Tokyo, but also across many other parts of Japan, among international visitors and within the Vietnamese community in Japan.
