Vietnam en Scène cultural week in France postponed
VOV.VN - The "Vietnam en Scène" cultural week in France (Vietnam Theatre Week), originally scheduled for October 24-31 in Paris, has been postponed due to objective reasons, with new dates to be announced in the coming period.
In a statement to audiences, artists, and partners, the organizing committee expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and confirmed that ticket holders will receive priority registration when the program resumes.
Announced on October 2, "Vietnam en Scène" stems from an initiative by Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam. Marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's accession to UNESCO, the event aims to promote national cultural values and cultural exchange with France.
The program, co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnamese Embassy in France, and the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO, brings together traditional and contemporary art forms, ranging from water puppetry, Tuong (classical opera), Cheo (traditional folk opera), and Cai Luong (reformed opera) to drama and modern dance, across major Parisian venues including the Marigny Theatre, Le Grand Rex, and Le Carreau du Temple.
Key highlights feature cross-cultural collaborations, notably a new adaptation of “Truong Ba’s Soul, Butcher’s Skin” directed by French director Anne Bouvier alongside Vietnamese performers, and “Truong Chi”, which also involves French artists.
At the launch press conference, organizers emphasized that the festival not only promotes Vietnamese theater but also creates joint production, artist exchange, and professional training opportunities between the two countries.
