Vibrant cultural exchanges at US-Vietnam Friendship Festival
VOV.VN - The US-Vietnam Friendship Festival took place in Hanoi on November 23, featuring a wide array of lively cultural and artistic activities.
Organised by the US Embassy in Hanoi in collaboration with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), the festival marked the final event in a series of four held in Da Nang, Can Tho, and Ho Chi Minh City, celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Vietnam.
Speaking at the festival, VUFO Vice President Dong Huy Cuong highlighted the importance of people-to-people exchanges as a key pillar of the Vietnam-US diplomatic relationship. He emphasised that such interactions serve as a vital bridge, fostering understanding, trust, and friendship between the two countries.
US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper, noted that the festival reflects the dynamic development and growing partnership between the United States and Vietnam. The event aims to promote further progress in elevating bilateral relations to new heights.
The diplomat also praised Vietnam’s ambitious economic growth agenda, driven by technology and innovation, and emphasised the essential role played by the United States and US firms in supporting these objectives.
He said the collaboration between the two countries goes beyond Vietnam’s borders, noting that more than 36,000 Vietnamese students have studied in the United States and returned home with knowledge and leadership skills that contribute to Vietnam’s development.
The festival introduced interactive booths showcasing both American and Vietnamese cultures, including sports activities, handicraft workshops, English spelling contests, and dance tutorials. Food stalls offered traditional dishes from both countries, allowing attendees to experience the rich culinary heritage of Vietnam and the United States.
