Special concert slated for January 17 to celebrate National Party Congress
VOV.VN - Two premier symphony orchestras, the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) and the Sun Symphony Orchestra (SSO), will join forces for a special concert celebrating the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The announcement was made at a press briefing held on January 13 in Hanoi by the Vietnam Classical Music Association, introducing the Khat Vong Mua Xuan (Spring Aspirations) concert, scheduled for January 17 at Ho Guom Theater in Hanoi.
Addressing the press, Nguyen Van Than, Chairman of the Vietnam Classical Music Association, highlighted the concert’s strong cultural and artistic significance. Closely linked to a major political event, the programme takes place at a moment when Vietnam is looking toward the 14th National Party Congress, helping to spread confidence in the country’s path toward peaceful, humane, and sustainable development.
Than pointed out that the concert is the result of the concerted efforts of nearly 150 Vietnamese and international artists and musicians. A key highlight of the programme is the first-ever collaboration between two conductors of Japanese and French nationality within a single concert, alongside the rare joint performance of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and the Sun Symphony Orchestra.
Designed as a continuous musical journey, the programme leads audiences from the shared national aspirations of the nation into the inner emotional world of humanity, before returning to Vietnam’s cultural roots.
Sharing his thoughts, pianist Eric Lu, winner of first prize at the 19th International Chopin Piano Competition in Poland in October 2025 said performing in the concert holds special personal meaning and reflects his continued connection with Vietnam and its classical music scene.
Honna Tetsuji, Japanese conductor and Director and Principal Conductor of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO), also lauded the artistic excellence and professionalism of Vietnamese musicians, highlighting that the collaboration between the two orchestras and international artists will bring fresh creative energy and raise the overall standard of the programme.
